On December 12, 2023, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released its November report on the Consumer Price Index. The CPI rose 0.1% in November, after being unchanged in October. Over the past 12 months, the CPI increased by 3.1%, after increasing by 3.2% in October. Energy prices fell 2.3% in November, while food prices rose by 0.2%.
The Core Index, excluding food and energy prices, rose 0.3% in November, following an increase of 0.2% in October. Over the past 12 months, the Core Index has risen 4.0%, the same rate as reported for October. The recent peak rate for the Core Index over the previous 12 months was 6.0% in the report for September 2022.
The next CPI Report will be issued on January 11, 2024.
