On May 13, 2025. The Bureau of Labor Statistics issued its CPI report for April 2025. The CPI rose by 0.2% in April, after decreasing by 0.1% in March. The year-over-year increase was 2.3%, the lowest year-ago increase since February 2021. In April 2024, the 12-month increase was 3.4%.
The Core Index, excluding food and energy, rose 0.2% in April and 2.8% over the past 12 months. The 12-month increase measured 3.5% in April 2024.
Over the past year, the Energy Index fell 3.4% while the Food Index rose 2.3%.
The next CPI report will be issued on June 11, 2025.
