Consumer Prices Fell 0.1% in June 2024

The Bureau of Labor Statistics issued its report on Consumer Prices on July 11, 2024. The CPI fell 0.1% in June, following an unchanged reading in May. The Index rose 3.0% from the prior year.

The Core Index, excluding food and energy, rose 0.1%, after a reading of 0.2% in May. The Core Index rose 3.3% year-over-year, the smallest 12-month figure since August 2021.

Over the past year, energy prices have risen 1.0% while food prices have increased by 2.2%.

The next CPI report will be issued on August 14, 2024.
