July CPI Rose by 0.2%, and by 2.7% From Year Ago

On August 12, 2025, the Bureau of Labor Statistics issued the CPI Report for July. The CPI increased by 0.2%, down from 0.3% in June. Over the past 12 months, the CPI is up by 2.7%, the same increase as in June.
The Core rate, excluding food and energy, rose 0.3% in July, following an increase of 0.2% in June. The Core Index increased by 3.1% over the past year.
Energy prices declined by 1.6% over the prior 12 months while the Food Index rose 2.9% over that period.

The next CPI Report will be issued on September 11, 2025.
