On April 10, 2024, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the CPI Report for March 2024. The Index rose by 0.4% in March, the same increase as in February. The Index rose 3.5% for the 12 months ending in March, a larger increase than February’s 3.2% increase or the 3.1% increase in January.
The Core Index, excluding food and energy, rose 0.4% in March, the same rate as in each of the two previous months. The Core Index rose 3.8% over the prior 12 months, the same rate of increase as in February. The food index rose 2.2% over the past 12 months, while energy prices increased 2.1% over the past year.
The next CPI Report will be issued on May 15, 2024.
