On July 3, 2025, the Bureau of Labor Statistics issued its Employment Report for June 2025. Total employment rose by 147,000 in June, in line with the 146,000 average over the prior 12 months. The unemployment rate was 4.1%, little changed from the previous month. Job seekers came in at 7.0 million, less than the 7.8 million job openings in the latest (July 1, 2025) JOLTS report. The rate has ranged between 4.0% and 4.2% since May 2024.
Average hourly earnings for nonfarm payroll workers rose by $0.08 to $36.30, up 3.7% from a year ago.
Revisions to previous reports totaled a net increase of 14,000.
The next Employment Report will be issued on August 1, 2025.
