On March 12, 2024, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released consumer price information for the month of February. The CPI rose 0.4%, after rising 0.3% in the prior month. On a 12-month basis, the CPI increased by 3.2%, compared to an increase of 3.1% in January.
The Core Index, excluding food and energy, rose 0.4% in February, the same rate as in January. The year-over-year Core Index rose by 3.8%, following an increase of 3.9% in the previous month. Energy prices fell by 1.9% in the prior year, while food prices rose by 2.2% over the year period.
