U.S. Consumer Price Index Rose 0.5% in January 2025

On February 12, 2025, the Bureau of Labor Statistics issued its CPI Report for January 2025. The CPI increased by 0.5% in January, after an increase of 0.4% in December 2024. The year-over-year increase was 3.0%, the highest figure since June 2024.

The Core Index, excluding food and energy, rose 0.4% in January and 3.3% from the prior year.

Energy prices rose 1.0% over the past 12 months, while food prices increased 2.5% from a year ago.

The next CPI Report will be issued on March 12, 2025.
