On October 29, 2025, the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (“FOMC”) voted to lower the Fed Funds rate by 25 basis points to a new range of 3.75% to 4,0%. The vote was 10-2, with one member asking for a cut of 50 basis points and one member looking for no change. The FOMC also noted that it will end its effort to shrink the balance sheet on December 1. Over the past four years, the Fed has shrunk its balance sheet assets from $9+ trillion to $6.6 trillion at its most recent Statement date. The FOMC also repeated its goal of returning inflation to 2.0%.
The next FOMC meeting is scheduled for December 10, 2025.
