U. S. Consumer Prices Declined 0.4% in June

On July 14, 2026, the Bureau of Labor Statistics issued its CPI Report for June.  The CPI fell by 0.4%, the largest monthly decline since April 2020.  The CPI rose by 0.5% in May.   Over the past year, the CPI is up 3.5%, after rising 4.2% in May.

The Core rate, excluding food and energy, was unchanged in June, and rose by 2.6% from the prior year.

Energy prices are up by 15.7% from one year ago, while food prices rose by 3.0% during that time period.

The next CPI Report will be issued on August 12, 2026.
